CULTURAL DANCE COMPETITION

Event Brief: 

The competition is a display of talent and dexterity of traditional Philippine dance movements among school’s  recognized dance troupes showcasing our country’s rich cultural dance heritage.

Who can participate:

Open to all school-recognized dance troupes in high school and college levels.

Dance Entry:

High School Level – September 1, 2017
Folkloric Dance Fusion

College Level – September 3, 2017

Qualification:

Requirements to qualify for the final round: Final Date of Submission 
  • Fully filled up online  registration form

(Date of registration will be the basis of “first come first served” basis for the eight finalists)

Only online registration will be accepted
  • Type written dance description/storyline of selected dance presentation (minimum of 80 words)

Failure to submit the above requirements on or before the scheduled date is ground for cancellation of participation.

Mechanics:

High School – Folkloric Dance Fusion

  • Dance presentation could be the group’s own interpretation of a folkloric dance. It could be one dance or a combination of maximum of 3 different dances forming a cohesive suite or theme.
  • Foreign song accompaniment shall not be allowed. Only indigenous musical accompaniment (canned or live) shall be accepted.
  • There shall be a maximum of 25 performers on stage. Instrumentalists and/or accompanying musicians in excess of 25 performers may be allowed off stage not exceeding 15 participants. Please note the size of the stage: 12 m (length) x 4 m (depth).
  • The presentation must run from a minimum of 5 minutes to a maximum of 10 minutes including entry and exit of the participants.
  • The official acceptance of a selected dance presentation shall be based on a first come, first served basis.
  • Only a maximum of 8 participating schools will be allowed during the Final Competition. In the event that entries from schools exceed more than 8, an elimination round may be conducted at the discretion of the organizer.

College – Cultural Dance
